There is a lot of weak combos, but as long as you don't play them as they are "intended" to be played,
Okay. I'm slowly getting that. Ogre Enchanter had me scratching my head until I said oh yeah! Just put everything into maces and start bashing things! (And then I died less than a minute in, but the theory was sound!)
and choose your god yourself without leaving it to RNG, they're doable. Most races are okay at bashing things with weapons and you can find a decent one early enough. Just prepare for a lot of Trog games.
I didn't think of it, but Trog probably is the best three-rune-win god? My first win was Kobold Berzerker, but I haven't touched Trog since.
This sounds like it might get boring fast - I kind of feel like berserkers all play the same? Is there any chance of winning if I, say, just take the first God that comes along?

Because if not, for your mental sanity, just try a MiBe !
Even if your method seems cool, a lot of hard background could just end up with the first jackal/orc priest and make you never reach D:5...
This can be very frustrating...
5 wins. Well, four and one game that went irreparably buggy while I had the freaking orb on, like, level 11 (and digging and haste and teleport ring) so I AM COUNTING THAT SHIT.
And another 9-10 guys died at level 27. I die on Zot:5 a lot.
So! Cleared the lair, ***** Ely Piety, cakewalk. Learned that if you wear an amulet of guardian spirit (one of my favorites for healers) It doesn't let you recover Magic Points, and doesn't give you Hit Points. Failed to pacify Rupert in 6 attempts, ran away. I might come back for him later. Found my first potion of heal wounds on Lair:6. Weird. Dragon ending on lair:8, one shot pacified everything with my 15 Evo. Super lucky with weapon drops (+7, +6 quick blade from acquirement scroll, +6, +3 Crossbow of venom, MR ++, Dex + 2.) Really stupid thing! Had caps lock on or something and managed to scroll brand the wrong weapon, so now I have a + 2, +2 dagger of electrocution instead of my quick blade.
No non high-level spell books in the lair at all. I'm feeling pretty good - I've played a lot of halfling healers, and dwarves seem better in most ways. Although I think I'm gonna miss automatic sustenance a lot. But I'd be 100% more confident with blink and/or repel missiles.
