Windows 8 Problems

I'm using the newest dev version, tiles, under windows 8. Since upgrading to Windows 8 this morning, the game is almost unplayable.

There is a serious delay in the video, a laggy feeling, whether using mouse or keyboard.

You cannot actually put, let's say, mephitic cloud, on a monster. When you put the target on them, it disappears. You can't tell that it's there except that your reticle disappears.

I'm looking into video compatible issues on my machine (win8 v intel adaptor) as I type this, but I do not expect to find anything.

I'll try running it in different modes.

Thanks for your help and making a great game.

I switched into windowed mode (init file) and now have no problems. But in full screen mode it was unplayable.

Re: Windows 8 Problems

It is known that there are problems with Windows 8. Might be good to report this on mantis as a reminder to the devs that these need to be fixed.

Re: Windows 8 Problems

I've found fullscreen essentially unplayable in Win 7; windowed eliminates the difficulty. There's something about the fullscreening of recent builds that doesn't mesh with Win 7 or 8.

Re: Windows 8 Problems

Are you using default video drivers? If so, update them.

Re: Windows 8 Problems

If that's directed to me: I've updated my drivers. It availed nought. When I switched to windowed the problem disappeared entirely.

No, it was directed at the OP. I know you've upated your drivers Grimm :-)
I still think it's a drivers issue. Poor OpenGL support in fullscreen mode.
