Bug: extremely long buff duration

Before you say it, YES, I did report it in mantis: https://crawl.develz.org/mantis/view.php?id=9311.

I'm not going to repeat the description here; the short version is that I got the resistance potion effect for several thousand turns. Does anyone know more about what causes this? Is it a bugged chaos effect like I think it might be? Has this happened to anyone else? I heard Yermak had bugged invis and got extremely contaminated by it. I had assumed it was going to be a perm effect, but it did in fact end eventually. If I had any clue about those replay tv commands, I'd link to the game, but ah well.

Edit: the Yermak invis case was linked to the bug in mantis, apparently that was fixed, but possibly not completely. On a side note, I didn't even know you could get the resist buff from chaos
