Description Electrocution is mighty dangerous for an effect that isn't even visually displayed.
Let's change that.

I think these should also be used for all lightning-based spells stronger than Shock.

You can put a force_more on getting electrocuted already, which is much better than forcing every player using an elec weapon to wait for an animation on 1/3 of their attacks. My games generally have over 10000 melee attacks and I use elec weapons a lot, so that would be several minutes wasted per game.

Is it not possible to make pseudo-animations that add no real-time delay? Make the logic something along the lines of "Display tile x until for 250ms or next player action, whichever comes first." It seems like this should be possible.

Even if it isn't, these animations could still be used for spells without adding extra delay: just make it simultaneous with the animation of the spell hitting the target.

Many crawl players like this sort of graphical thing, and I know there will be more coming. I definitely don't think they should be forced on players who don't want them (as relevant, minmay's post about animation speed:

I do believe there's a good place in the game for more visual embellishment without leaking information or causing any issues.

Even though I made a lot of the projectile tiles in the game, I would prefer to play without them. I feel a "show_extra_animations" line would be useful, under tiles options. I think this should default to off -- except for offline tiles builds, which I imagine have the most players who would prefer animations like this.
