Summary 0007767: Axe of Law, a silvered axe
Description The first commit increases the number of unrands the game can have.
The second adds the Axe of Law, a +5 exec axe with silver properties. It should do damage similar to that of silver bolts and the like, but directly: no armour can shield Zin's wrath.

A +5 executioner's axe is pretty good on its own, but generally if worshipping Torg or Okawaru this would not be the best option against non-chaotic beings, which would probably put it in the right spot for an unrand.

No tile, but it should use the executioner's tile.

I upped the unrand limit to 150 (0.14-a0-1182-g1e5510f), so the first patch is no longer needed.

Axe doesn't really seem a Zin-like weapon: it's more associated with Trog and Beogh. Hammer or staff seem more appropriate to me (perhaps a mace with altered stats and "TYPE: gavel", but others may disagree).

Also, it would be good to avoid almost-duplicating the code in _silver_damages_victim (with the difference being that your version effectively subtracts out the base damage). You could instead split off the common part into a new function that doesn't use a beam and doesn't do messaging, and have _LAW_melee_effects call that function then subtract the base damage back out.

I updated it to include the code comments you made.

For flavor, I was kind of thinking that it was an executioner's axe -- an axe used for executions, which Zin, as a god with a hardline view on disorder, would of course support. I like the idea of a quarterstaff, as a nod to priests.

Should I upload my newest version (with exec axe) or change it to some mace/morningstar or something?

Ever since some earlier Tavern discussions, I've had a few different versions of silver weapons in the works. I'm attaching the most recent version of what I've put together for reference.

The Tavern discussion originally suggested that the weapon be a lajatang, so that's what it is in the patch. I'm hoping the implementation and such for it is relatively clean and much simpler than some of the other proposed ideas.

It should be a hammer.

Could anyone enlighten me why a lajatang would be even the tiniest bit better than an axe or anything here? I don't get that part.

Gameplay-wise, there already are interesting and weird unrand axes and M&F while only two quarterstaves usable in melee exist.
Flavor-wise a staff is more of a priestly weapon than an axe and a lajatang is basically a wacky fantasy battle staff.

It should be a tipstaff: [^]

Also, it should inflict recite effects against monsters that Zin deems uncool.

I took pubby's suggestion and Grunt's patch and mashed them up.

Ugh, so this is a short club which uses the Staves skill. This makes no sense at all.

Made it a straight laj with silver and rMut.
