Summary 0005746: New Orc, Elf, Centaur tiles
Description I enjoyed making that Fannar/Frigus tile and then it got a bit out of hand.

Left to right as follows:

Elf row 1: Deep elf soldier, fighter, knight, blademaster, death mage, priest, high priest*.
Elf row 2: Deep elf mage, conjurer, summoner, sorcerer, annihilator, demonologist, high priest*.

* Two high priests submitted because I couldn't decide which I liked better.

Orc row 1: Orc, warrior, knight, warlord.
Orc row 2: Orc wizard, sorcerer, priest, high priest.

Centaurs: Self-evident. These should display with bow weapon tiles, this way they can be shown properly with melee weapons and we won't need multiple monster tiles. Plus they have faces now.

Naturally I forgot to add shadows to the centaur tiles. Here we are though.

Gnolls -- the top row is Yiuf, with a more obviously fake beard and eyes that change color (as I understand he does that in console). Below, it goes Grum - Gnoll - Shaman - Sergeant.

I like the elves and gnolls, but not the rest. Even the elves and gnolls are not super awesome IMO. The elves should be easier to tell apart, and the current gnoll tiles are quite good IMO. I prefer the second tile for high priests. Just looks more pompous and high-priestly to me.

The centaurs look fat, clumsy and slow to me, which they aren't. A bit like a mad scientists experiment gone wrong, which is really unfitting IMO.

Some of the orcs are pretty nice, but the only one I really like is the tile for sorcerers. I strongly prefer the current knight and warlord tiles, and I really like that the current priests and wizards stand out so much from regular orcs. Orcs often come as a group, and it's really important to be able to identify the ones that are actually dangerous at a glance. The current tiles achieve this, the ones you submitted don't.

I really like the orcs, but agree with Galefury. Gameplay considerations should be made when choosing colors. Muted tones may look more attractive when viewing the tiles individually, but when you're looking at a whole screen of them, brighter colors will make the different creature types stand out more.

Toning the bright colors down just a bit actually was a gameplay-related decision, if only to emphasize brighter colors on more threatening/higher level enemies. I could work on some of the bigger offenders in that department.

The centaurs do look a bit too fat, but I think I'm not going to bother revising those.

I think I could take a stab at improving the centaurs if you don't mind...

The orcs I think could be much improved if you would extend the robes of the magic-using orcs (2nd row) all the way down, to cover their feet... this would make them easier to differentiate from the melee-type orcs, and also from each other.

Feel free to take a stab at any of these!

Ok I made an attempt at the centaurs, not sure if they turned out well... maybe you can improve them a bit... they could use some more contrast at places

Both the orc mages and centaurs are greatly improved IMO. The longer robes make the mages stand out a bit more, and the centaurs look really good now.

Something very good about the orc tiles that was already present in the first iteration, but I didn't notice then: weapon-compatible orc mages. Yay! These guys are better at melee than regular orcs, so seeing their weapon is important.

Elven conjurer and summoner robes should use brighter colors IMO. The conjurer looks a lot like the elven mage at a glance. The summoner is better, but is too similar to the current conjurer.

I brightened up the colors and differentiated the shape a bit more, for the mage/conjuror/summoner. I really like the revisions to the centaur! Perhaps the warrior could be made a bit redder like the existing tile in the game? I think it's good to stay close to the yaktaur captain tile which also has the red thing going on.

redder centaur warrior certainly looks better, it's easier to tell apart from the regular cent now.

Adjusted levels on gnoll tiles, made them much more clear.

Unlikely to use these; may as well be a closed issue at this point.
