Summary 0004231: Stairs you begin on not discovered until you move
Description Start the first tutorial. Only after you move off the staircase you start on do you get the message "Found a staircase leading out of the dungeon", as if the game didn't notice it while you were standing on them.

 Shift+moving appears to discover the staircase but NOT move you at all.

Also applies to other features and items.

Not limited to starting the game. Sometimes items on the edge of vision fail to be discovered until you move closer; Sometimes items fails to discover until you rest near them.
