Summary 0003484: Sif Muna runs out of books
Description After being gifted a sufficiently huge number of randart spellbooks (ziggurats will do that, it seems), Sif Muna gifts give the message "No valid disciplines with which to make a randart spellbook." I still receive the book as normal, however.

I get multiple copies of books in quick succession in 0.9 503be72

Created a vast number of sif gifts in wizmode and didn't get that message. Please reopen if it's still possible to get that message outside of wizmode.

I can reproduce this in trunk's wizmode by acquiring lots of books.

Medar - have you got a save showing this or are you working on a fix anyway?

No on both accounts. Just happened to run into this when testing something else.

I can get it to happen every time by just acquiring a lots of books. Just enter wizmode, set magic skills to pretty high level (so you won't get manuals), make a macro for &ad and spam it for while.

Sounds like this is specifically related to book acquirement then because purely spamming Sif gifts didn't trigger it (but books in a Zig might often be acquirement generated).

This is still reproducible in 0.18-a0-828-ge33d536, via book acq.

This was just a debug message that wasn't converted to use dprf() and used MSGCH_ERROR for some reason. (It was in #ifdef DEBUG, which is presumably why nubinia and mumra couldn't reproduce it but Medar and PF could.)

Fixed in https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/b7c8ea3f0. [^]
