I'm pretty sure that (as in the real world) heresy is determined retroactively based on which faction survives.
And raising an orc's corpse could be explained as helping the orc to continue assisting your crusade in Beogh's name. It's somewhat inconsistent, but not really enough to actually be a bug. |

I found this really annoying, as I wanted the orc corpses to pray over to get piety. Along with the inconsistency mentioned here already. |

I agree, Beogh should be against it (and enemy priests heretics). |

Friendly orcs no longer cast animate dead if you worship Beogh. As for players casting it, you already do get a piety hit for doing so -- specifically, you don't get the piety for praying over their corpses. |
