Summary | 0011813: Autoexplore can leak information about unseen areas. | |||||||||||
Description |
If it so happens that the edge of an exclusion has nothing but walls behind it, so there is no empty space beyond, autoexplore will tell you "Done exploring" even though the player has no way of telling there's nowhere to go beyond the exclusion. I attach a save where I've reproduced this situation in wizard mode in trunk (it happened originally to me in normal play, but a Mountain Dwarf save won't be too much use to you...). |

FWIW: https://crawl.develz.org/mantis/view.php?id=7585 [^] Very similar to what's being described here. |

7585 seems to have been closed as a duplicate of 6060, which it's not - 6060 and related 8262 deal with explore skipping the edge of the map, which isn't the case here or in 7585. This case is also more annoying that the one in 7585. In 7585, if the player spots it (and they probably won't?) they'll just go and open the door, problem solved. In this case the player probably will spot it (if you see an oklob when exploring, you don't expect to be told "Done exploring" later) and thinks there is still some map left to explore but that autoexplore won't admit as much. |
