looks lovley, but the water tiles has a little to much contrast between the white and blue, it hurts my eyes. Other than that its totally awesome. :D

Nice article and screenshots. The waves and weighted tiles make for much more natural looking levels -- the first 0.5.2 screenshot had visible lines of big-rock-in-sand-tiles, the more recent screenshots look much better.

Thanks for all the work on tiles!

Excellent article! It gave me a glimpse to the project history in a very interesting way. The screenshots are fun to look at. The waves and the shoreline looks much better in 0.6. I adore the turtles too!

Branches and portal vaults have all sorts of interesting connections. The Sewers and Ice Caves were private pre-Stone Soup branch ideas of mine. Somewhere when portal vaults were discussed it struck me that their scope was perfect for a portal vault instead of a full-blown branch.

At one point, I was considering to propose a portal vault prototype of the Shoals themselves, if it started to look like that they were missing another major release. Happily this didn't happen!
