Needles

Curare

Curare effects were changed in trunk with the reasoning that if bugs and so on breathe passively (which is inaccurate to begin with), a muscle relaxant such as curare wouldn't lead to asphyxiation like it does for animals with muscle-operated lungs. This is a pure realism feature, and as such, I think it should be cleanly reverted. It's difficult to convey this overly-specific behavior to the player and it's unintuitive that bugs are poison-vulnerable yet take zero damage from the “poison needle+” that is curare. It seems unnecessary to consider such specific real-world chemical and biological minutia to begin with, especially with the disregard the game rightfully shows for such things in general. This comes across as gimmicky and nethackish. — og17 2010-10-29 23:02
