I'm sure this isn't the most exciting combination but if you're interested I have been slowly working on this character since yesterday on the crawl.s-z.org server. Currently LV16, most recent unique killed was Roxanne who had almost killed me earlier.

My connection is a bit slow so I might tend to use Auto move commands quite frequently to move around.

Many more critters and uniques killed. Just about to start on Vault 5 but it is time to take a break. And Yay!, not dead yet!

Getting back into the game now. Will I find any useful randarts? Will I be stuck with plain armours? Can there be anything of worth in Vault 5? Here continues my intrepid (mis)adventures!

All entry Vault guards are dead. Time to go hunting for treasures.

Blasted for over 40 damage by and ice giant. Ouch. That ends the fun.

What level were you?

I had him up to LV19-20. Only problem was that I had found next to no ice resist gear (or any resist gear). It was bad luck on loot rolls. Also only had about 98 HP because gargoyles have a lower HP attribute. It close to doubles when berserked but was still not enough.

Elemental damage is no joke, even with very high AC. Sorry for your loss.

Did you have rC? Late dungeon and V5 are much more dangerous without a pip each of rF and rC.

rF tends to be more important, but lack of rC is still a liability, and (based on my last couple of games) this seems to be more the case now than in the past. Maybe it just seems that way because I've had some weird luck, as I think the only actual buff to cold damage was that ice dragons' breath gives knockback (which does actually make them a good deal more dangerous for certain characters), but I also noticed a couple of "ice-themed" floors generated in mid-dungeon that were not (I believe) in the game a couple of versions ago.
