Am I ready to take the dive?

I've been having a good run as a KoBe of Trog. Cleared the Crypt for the first time, got the Slime rune for the first time; might be some other firsts as well. Now that I've cleared out all the places where I dared to go (basically everything except Pan, the Hells, Tomb), I should be ready to dive all the way down into Zot (I've already cleared the first two levels)...except I'm not sure if I've got what it takes. I've already lost one three rune KoBe to Zot 5 (my mistake was figuring "what the hell" and going in without any healing and mutation resistance)- my first time down there; this time, I really don't want to lose. My kobold's got a pair of nice quick blades, a decent stack of wands and potions, some ok mutations (got teleportitis which I haven't been able to cure, but it's balanced out by tele control); on the down side, my armor and jewellery kind of suck. Char dump will follow. Is there anything crucial that I'm missing, any places I should go, or should I be ok with what I've got?

Re: Am I ready to take the dive?

Teleport control doesn't work in Zot:5, so going down there with teleportitis is pretty dangerous. I wouldn't recommend it, if at all possible I'd want to cure it.

If I only had a way do that... Unfortunately, I haven't found any cure mutation potions in the whole dungeon : ( Well, I had one, but I used it for curing teleportitis the first time I contracted it -- and then I got it again somehow, despite being careful. I do have some pots of mutation lying around somewhere, though - what are the chances of a muta pot curing the teleportitis and not giving me anything as bad/worse?

Re: Am I ready to take the dive?

Do you have any artefact with -TELE? That could help. You could also use an amulet of stasis, but you might want to keep your amulet slot for rMut in Zot:5.
<+Grunt> You dereference an invalid pointer! Ouch! That really hurt! The game dies...

Re: Am I ready to take the dive?

Wear an amulet of stasis, turn invisible, and stab everything in sight. Your stabbing and stealth skills are high enough for you to easily one-shot everything in Zot:5. I managed to win once with teleportitis 2 and my character was a lot weaker than yours. Honestly, most of my wins prior to 0.8 involved teleporting randomly and apportating the Orb. The above posters are exaggerating about the danger.

Re: Am I ready to take the dive?

Eh. My luck seems to have left me the moment I got near the Orb. Everything went smoothly at first, took down lots of orb guardians and a couple of ancient liches, but the orb vault proved to be a bit too much to handle at once (it also made it painfully clear why apportation is such a nice thing to have... had I got it, I'd have been out with the Orb instead of...well, dead), so I decided to run away and rest a bit...except everywhere I ran turned out to be even worse, and I foolishly forgot to put on that amulet of stasis for the times I had to rest - again, painfully obvious in hindsight. I died just a couple of steps away from the stairs :( Next time, Crawl!

You know how it is, no matter what you've got you always want more. "I've got this nice pair of rings but I STILL don't have EVERYTHING so damn you Crawl!"
