Pain vs Draining

I have a dagger of draining right now and I was wondering if I should ditch it when I get one with the pain brand. Are there any monsters that resist one but not the other?

I'm assuming you're worshipping Kiku since that's the most likely way to acquire a perma pain brand.

Pain dmg is based on your necromancy level, so as long as the above is true pain is really really good at adding extra damage.

Pain brand is worthless unless you have Necromancy skill. If you do, however, then yes, switch. And as far as I know, monsters that resist pain also resist draining, since they're both negative-energy-based.

Sounds like a plan. Now I just need a way to deal with demons. It seems like that's going to be hard for a spriggan stalker.

Not if you use your head. Most demons aren't any faster than normal creatures, which means they're slower than your Spriggan. So you can keep them at range and kite them with spells or slings. Or you can worship a god who grants you summons and/or other attacks of your own to deal with them.

There is also a good chance of finding a weapon with a Holy Wrath brand on it to deal with those pesky resisters.
