Hey all, first post and a question about Trog and Rods.

I found all these cool rods, and I'd like to use them, especially since I already have high Staves/Evocations, but I was wondering if using them invokes Trog's wrath at all?

Also, can I memorize spells just to increase my magic level in relevant areas without incurring his wrath? (like ice or fire for my ice or fire rods) Would it be worth it to use one of these rods as a primary weapon with my setup? Any other advice/comments welcome.

Edit: Is there any way to dump a list of my stash that I'm standing on?

Not only can you use the rod while worshipping Trog, but all you need to train to make them more powerfull is Evocation. So yeah go for it, you have all you need !

Rods are fairly useless weapon, your quarterstaff is much better.

Other advice wouldbe to ID your scroll by reading them, no risk doing that as long as you are at full health in a cleared floor.

It looks like you trained unarmed combat a lot, I assume that was a mistake and I'm sorry for your xp loss. I'm also sorry that Trog seems to have been so stingy with weapons -- it's almost hard to believe he hasn't given you any lajatangs at all, since even a +0 slicing one would be better than your qstaff versus non-spellcasters.

I'd suggest doing D:16 and Orc now -- is there any reason you haven't done the latter but you've started Shoals? You have an OK chance of getting rPois from some shop or robe or something in Orc.

I definitely would've gone and done at least a few levels of Orc first before hitting Shoals. There's usually decent stuff in there and you had a rod of fiery destruction to help wipe out large groups of orcs at once.

For that last fight, you probably just needed to start running away sooner. Pop Teleport and kite with your flying speed. Not sure if Fear works on elementals (I'm guessing not.) You'd already used your Brothers in Arms?
