If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

Demise - Ascension
The game formerly known as Demise - Rise of the Ku'tan and before that as Mordor.
- The ultimate hardcore 1st person tile based Hack&Slash Dungeon Crawler
- genial 'mix' of wizardry-bard's tale/roguelike/diablo
- roots of core game system go back to the mythological times of CRPG (Plato System in the 1970s)
- graphics/sound and UI at trash cult level

Cardhalia is a grid-based dungeon game we created quite a long time ago now. As the game was very successful in those times in Czech Republic, we were asked to create an English version so it can be played by people who don’t know the Czech language. We decided to proceed this idea and hope that you will appreciate it.

Finally, the veil on the mysterious two decade old vaporware known as Grimoire is lifted! All the important questions are answered at last!

I love how these games are getting "popular" again. I really hope GOG eventually puts all of the old Wizardry games up for download.

DarkLight Dungeon Eternity is another hack&slash time-sinker like Demise.

But most genial 'long play time' dungeon crawler is Wizardry IV - Return of Werdna' (in my opinion - but you have to avoid spoilers of course):

Mychaelh wrote:It's a one-man project and has giant persistent dungeon like demise. It's the most 'demise-like' of the indie dungeon crawls that I know of.
But demise is far more evolved. Think Demise like DCSS and DarkLight like maybe Vanilla Angbang.
Demise 'auto'-combat is far better for this kind of gameplay than DarkLight turn-based. Demise has also far more 'stuff' (monsters, items etc.)
But for what it is DarkLight is a pretty impressive game nontheless.
Here is a 'Oubliette' fan-page (kind the 'Rogue' for this sub-genre):
