What to acquire? 3 scrolls

Hey guys,

Looking for some advice here. I have an OpEE with THREE scrolls of acquirement ready to be used. I've just entered Zot feeling pretty confident but I want more confidence. I entered a trove earlier hoping for some good equipment but it turned out to be a weapon trove. I got NOTHING useful from it besides some semi-valuable items to boost my end score.

My current choices are to acquire armour, jewellery, or wand. I'm pleased with my shield but the wizard hat leaves something to be desired. My only other hat is a plain +0 wizard hat that I can enchant up to the maximum +2. Acquiring a good randart ring would be nice but there's so many rings I have yet to ID (regen, slaying, invis, hunger, sustenance, SustAb, probably some more) that it's probable I'll just get a vanilla (and useless) ring, or an amulet (which is an entirely different matter). I've actually been using vanilla rings all game because the only randart rings were generated in shops, and they were REALLY crappy. For wands, I've identified most of them except random effects, lightning, and the 3 big ones. I can buy TP and Hasting in a shop in the Vaults to increase my chances of getting heal wounds, so that might be worth acquiring.

Any advice? If it matters, I have yet to explore Elf and finish the last 25% of Vaults:8. Exploring Slime is also a viable option I think. In terms of resistances, I'm covered in everything important (rF+++, rElec, MR) but I'm looking for rMut. I have an unID'd amulet in my inventory that I suspect is rMut but who knows, it could be inaccuracy.

Also as a side note, I don't really know what to spend my exp on at this point - I don't really need anything more. Any suggestions?

no id scrolls in any shops? if you want to go for 15 runes rMut will be very helpful, otherwise you "only" have to worry about orbs of fire. You have crystal spear which should take care of them, but even 1-2 mutations can kind of ruin your day.
I would suggest not to carry around valuable scrolls, even with conservation. put aquirement, enchant x or amnesia scrolls in your stash to keep them safe.
don't you have any heal wound potions? maybe some in shops? if you don't have a wand you may find yourself without healing at all, very inconvenient at times.

I would suggets to finish vault, then do maybe crypt and elf, all three contain loot that may be very valuable, and are a lot easier than zot. with your MR and your spells elf should be quite a walk in the park.

I haven't checked in shops for ID scrolls, but there should be some. I have 3 potions of cure mutation so not having rMut isn't the worst thing in the world. I used 11 potions of heal wounds to enter the trove and I have none left. I guess I'll try to acquire wand to get heal wounds.

Go buy the haste and tele wands (you want them anyway) and then acquire wand until you get heal wounds. Nothing else is nearly as likely to improve your survivability and you certainly are well-equipped enough to win even without it.

If you're just going to win you don't need rmut: if you get mutated in Zot that's fine, because you're about to win anyway. There are very very few mutations that will actually be bad enough to get you killed on the orbrun anyway.

The percentage chance to get artifact jewelry from acquirement does not change depending on the types you have identified. There is a section of acquirement code where the game attempts to generate vanilla rings one after another, retrying every time it gets one that you've already identified, but the chance of getting artifact jewelry is in a separate section. You cannot influence your chances of getting an artifact, and you cannot influence the base ego of this artifact.

Armor does work differently, and you are more likely to get ego or artifact gear if you already have your slots filled. There's no guarantee that it will be usable, of course.

Acquired/gifted armour is always usable; you probably meant it might not be useful.

Bought my wands of TP and hasting.

Acquired wand. Got polymorph other (which I had already identified).
Acquired wand. Got cold (which I had already identified).
Acquired wand. Got a CROOKED BONE WAND which I, with heart racing, promptly identified. Turned out to be invisibility.

Utterly useless garbage. Whatever. I'm strong enough with heal wounds.

Sounds like my last game where I had all identified but haste. I blew 6 acquirement scrolls through the game on wands and got 1 wand of cold and 5 of teleport. It would have been nice if at least one would have been heal wounds since I only had found one of those all game. I think I used about 5 or 6 recharges on it.

Meant to say "without." And I ended up dying on the orb run! Even after surviving a one turn move in Zot:5 that resulted in a double-torment from a summoned Fiend with a Ghost Moth staring at me, so I was 14 HP and 0 mana and no heal wounds/curing, miraculously surviving 3 turns until a TP kicked in, right into an uncleared orb chamber, directly next to an Orb Guardian, and miraculously survived by blocking 3 attacks in a row with just 22 SH until another TP kicked in, which landed me in another uncleared orb chamber, but fortunately I was stealthy and there was nobody about so I was able to heal up. I got killed by having 0 mana, trying to rest up on Zot:4 when a pan lord came by.
