YASD - Noob MiFi
Relative noob here. (~1/2 year of casual playing. Mostly reading guides/LPs and usually failing at Lair or even at reaching Lair.)
This was my first decent run so far, but I surely did a ton of mistakes during my game. Maybe someone can give me a few hints...
After getting cast into the Abyss by Sonja, I was kind of worried at first. After walking around for a bit and killing some of the "easier" enemies in there, I got surrounded. Tried to heal with potions while killing more stuff, but I couldn't kill fast enough/didn't have enough healing capabilities. Used a scroll of teleport, teleported 2 squares away, still surrounded. Teleported with my last scroll. While searching for an exit, I ran into some golden eyes, got confused, got confused even more, and died.
One thing that might have helped at least a bit(?): switching to my crystal plate armor, which I switched out for the rPois of the swamp dragon armor when I went to the Snake Pit. My AC was in the high 30s with it, i think.
My main problem was that I didn't know what to do once I got confused...
Also, some of the gifts (e.g. +0, -8 crossbow of the Puffin {god gift, flame, rElec rF+}), as well as the -5 Boots (Dex +4 or something) I got with a scroll of acquirement were... suboptimal, but I couldn't complain about my gear, most of the gifts were decent, with some of them being very awesome.
Oh well, time to roll another character.
