How to continue with my MiBe (Edit: YAVP 15 runes melee)

I have a lvl 24 MiBe, wearing plate and wielding an nice executioner randart.
Very strong in the offense, and until a large number of strong enemies appears there are usually no real dangers (except overconfidence, of course).

My biggest problem is that i did not find rMut yet, id'd every piece of jewellery i found and burned two aquirements on jewellery, without success yet.

I have quite some three-rune-wins with melees, but not a single full one (they are all with casters), so i would like to try to go extended.
I have left crypt alone until now, to contemplate my course.

Leave Trog? TSO would be the usual endgame melee god. HP-reg would be nice in hells, rN+++ at least a bit helpful, and angel spam can be quite handy for a non-caster i guess. I won't benefit from bless weapon though, and the shield invocation would also be useless.
Zin, on the other hand, would provide me with rMut and quite some other nice goodies. Seems to be difficult to build Piety though.

Any suggestions? I don't have levitation boots, so i'd find a tunnel end or something to survive Trogs wrath i guess?

Take down Blade for the XP and maybe Slime if you can take down shining eyes with ranged attacks or using berserk.

Otherwise switch to TSO and goto Crypt and do it and cross fingers for rmut.

Worst case, take down some of Zot and avoid flaming balls, and then troll Pan for cure mutation potions.

The easiest way to survive it in my experience (I have done this twice at XL 14-15, one was a mummy, and both survived) is by using a teleportation trap, optimally with a cTele ring. You teleport away to safety, wait a bit until the shouts cease and then return to the trap.
Bring some curing potions (he can rot you) and teleportation means other than the trap, just for the very rare case that you get another group while the other isn't gone yet.

Personally I would go Zin for extended: your weapon is great already, shield invocation will help even less, and you have no rMut, which is pretty important. His other effects (rSickness, hell effect prevention that is almost guaranteed at full piety, rRot, stat protection) are very useful, and Imprison is a great invocation to trap dangerous monsters. Sanctuary is the "lol I survive" button in nearly any situation, barring only paralysis and really, really bad luck, really. Of 4 times I have done extended with Zin all 4 have survived because of this and his general awesomeness in extended. He's a very reliable god. :)

One other way to survive Trog's wrath would be to find a deck with a Warpwright or Tomb (both, I think, in Decks of Escape), and draw it at the end of a tunnel. That should create a tele trap right next to you, or make yourself completely walled-in and untouchable.

... unless summons that spawn directly on a teleport trap don't get teleported...?

It's not super likely, but hey: if you have some identify scrolls and decks lying around...

Short update:
I converted to TSO, waited the penance out on temple stairs. The 1-2 raging stone giants that came up the stairs with me were not too big of a problem.
I only missed Trog being mollified, and waited quite some other 1000 turns before checking the logfile for it.

I retrieved all hell runes, except for Antaeus the Lords were not that hard after i learned to spam angels instead of wading into the fight directly myself.
Antaeus had a really bad layout in his level, about 10 small islands with deep water between them, not really fun without a permanent source of levitation.
I teleported uncontrolled, and once directly onto his island, two ice statues, two ice fiends, two ice devils and Antaeus himself, barely survived for the next teleport to kick in.
Teleported around until i came to the next island, spammed angels, drank resist, speed and levitation and went over to let the shinies kick him.

Still no rMut, and still no other source for rPoison and rElec than the -CAST ring, which kind of defeats the sense to learn blink and other utility spells.
Got only -10% hp until now.

I think i change to Zin, assault Zot and Slime, and maybe the Abyss, and change to TSO again (if i find rMut, for example in the slime vault) for pan.
How do i build piety with Zin? Pay money? How much? Never played with Zin before.
Also thought about trying a ziggurat, at least to some medium levels, maybe i get some nice loot there without getting torn to pieces, i never played one on a noncaster before though, maybe too risky.

In 0.9, you gain Zin piety over time, by killing chaotic and unclean monsters (this is usually connected with shapeshifting, mutating, rotting, and sickness) and by donating money. In 0.10, the piety over time is replaces by a 1/10 "tithe" of gold you pay every time you pick up a pile of gold. This results in much faster piety gain in 0.10, despite slow piety decay now.
With Zin you can probably safely clear a Ziggurat down to level 10 (I say "safely" as in a very high chance of surviving, not a decent chance), just remember to use Sanctuary to escape if you happen to get a really nasty early level.

Very happy with Zin, saved me from countless mutations, and from one or another bad situation.
Despite conservation i got my mundane equipment totally destroyed in Slime, but found a nice +9 Crystal Plate with Dex+4, Int+3.
The 10 levels of Ziggurat were quite a good estimation, i escaped with few HP from a deep elf level with about 30 blademasters, master archers and demonologists. Without Tornado or another mass destruction spell that was not really doable, but due to cTele i was able to escape.

I have killed two Pan lords (Lom and Gloorx), stole the rune from Cerebov and Mnoleg.
Until torment enters the game i am quite save.

Sitting at 13 runes, looking for an exit from Pan now.
Currently training charms to get Haste castable in my EVP-8 armor :)

You need corrosion resistance not conservation for Slime... or a full set of artefact gear

Fully aware of that, but didn't conservation provide rCorr as well? or was that only the cloak? Preservation, oh yes...
Well, i did not care about the stuff anyway...

I was unpleasently surprised when i distorted myself into the Abyss, found the rune and a gateway out, and landed right in Pandemonium again.

I am sitting at 14 runes now, and with controlled blink i escaped all hairy situations in Pan. Never landed on Hellion Island :)
I have haste, deflect missiles and controlled blink all castable in my crystal plate.

I think for Tomb i'll best switch back to TSO. I have finally found a rMut amulet in one of the last pan levels.
Still, Zin was fantastic in Pan and Abyss, with the 90% protection the amulet gives me i'd still be a globbering slime i guess.
I have shouteritis 1, and Int +1, i guess i'll ask Zin to remove both for me before i go back to TSO.
Plenty of restore ability potions, and vitalisation only heightened my stats instead of removing attribute loss, i hope i'll be fine with it.

Onwards to the horrors of Tomb, then.

Tomb was astoundingly easy, i guess with Dmg+14 on my +11 Executioner Axe most opponents had little time to reflect on their evil.
With Traps&Doors 14 i found all the Zot traps, and otherwise the key was to go veeery slowly, retreat and heal, and have plenty of curing potions.

Was the Champion of The Shining One.
Escaped with the Orb
... and 15 runes on Dec 24, 2011!

The game lasted 13:18:35 (197817 turns).

Now onwards to more worldly presents :geek:
