By that time, you can satisfy yourself with the previous two installments of the series(well, ok, the first one is a bit dated and clunky, but has a good story; the second one is just dope, tho).
I'd also reccomend The Longest Journey series, now that it's finished and there are no cliffhangers you'd have to wait 10 years to be resolved(at lest I hope so, I still haven't played through the last chapter of Dreamfall: Chapters...)(second game, Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, ends on the most frustrating cliffhanger ever!).
I also had lots of fun playing Borderlands 2.
Someone already mentioned my favourite game of all time, Bastion. I cannot reccomend that one enough. Just listen to that soundtrack! *Bliss*

It has some great moments, but I would be lying if I said the mechanics weren't grossly outdated.

Who cares? I give it 10/10 just for the soundtrack.

I guess two attack buttons, each which perform one randomly selected attack from a bunch of completely different attacks (Some lunging, some quick, some very slow) is what passes for deep combat to some people... And sometimes you'd get the same attack when you pushed the other button!
The combat strategy in the witcher 2 boiled down to "Cast the shield spell, hit the guys, cast the shield spell, repeat".
I'm mad I got tricked into buying that game...

Damnit, I had to remember my old password just to login because this post forced my nostalgial cortex to fire repeatedly and demand I post more C64 era awesomeness.
Sorta crawl-related, in that they're turn based RPGs:
Phantasie
Questron
Wizard's Crown
Ultima I-IV (V too, but use a C-128 emulator for the expanded music)
Legacy of the Ancients
Darklands (post C64 era, but too awesome to not include)
Temple of Apshai
OK, calming down now, I think </nostalgia>...

Stupid path of exile... I just started playing it again.
It is free, and it is a game. It's better than most free games (except crawl, of course).

They really shit the bed with Prophecy league though, and from the most recent blog post they're about to shit the bed on the next challenge league too.
Everyone is going to be playing the expansion in standard league b/c of it.
They struck gold with the Cadiro/Perandus league, which I'm sure isn't helping. If the next league were coming immediately after say.... Warbands, I'm sure it would have a better welcome.
Just to put things in perspective, I'm another one of those that'll easily log 40+ hrs a week the first month that a new league is out.

You should play Dark Souls, aka the best game ever. It has the deepest of combats.

Amazing, yes, ridiculous aswell, i mean, Devil May Cry is making fun of witcher's choreography.
