If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

Odd things sighted in dungeon.

A thread for any unusual things you've come across. I'll start: I just did a labyrinth that had no treasure in it. Not a sausage.

There are some pretty crazy vaults in the labyrinth. I actually got creeped out a little bit when I found a bow and arrows, then found a centaur corpse after a couple of switchbacks.

Actually...the loot was stacked on the exit stairs. This is now a D'oh! thread.

The haul? Scroll of curse jewellery, vanilla elven ring mail, scroll of immolation, centaur barding. I'm an MDFi.

I got odd for you. I just found a plant growing on the stairs in the lair.

I really want to see what happens if I try and go up those stairs from the other side (will the game crash? Tell me the stairs are blocked? Send me up anyways and have me appear next to the stairs?), but the other stairs down are currently blocked by a hydra and an annoyed Maud waiting on the other end.

I came up underneath it and it wasn't there.

Last night I saw upon the stair
A little plant who wasn’t there
He wasn’t there again today
Oh, how I wish he’d go away

I laugh every time I get the random one-square of deep water in the middle of a dungeon floor.. that of course has a big fish in it.

Talk about the big fish in a small pond!

Hey, that's cool! I own (in real life) a T-shirt with our provincial government's (Manitoba) official logo and the words "Department of Redundancy Department".

I've also seen randarts with the descriptor "of Execution" - but not yet the Executioner's Axe of Execution. I would use that no matter how useless it was!

Well, I once found a "[randart weapon] of Zicher's demise". Can't recall the properties though.

I won that game later ;).

FYI The phrase "Department of Redundancy Department" first appeared on the Firesign Theatre's brilliant 1970 album Don't Crush That Dwarf, Hand Me The Pliers, which is both the Sgt. Pepper's of comedy and something I can often be heard shouting while playing my MDFi.

Oh yes, be very afraid. It makes the game more fun.

Those plants have probably been fighting each other.

Nice one. I really appreciate everyone who designs all the little minivaults. I keep seeing interesting new ones. They really add to the game - especially when something odd like the above happens.

Another thing that happened in that game is that I discovered that plants heal themselves over time. Just in case anyone was wondering.

Unusual level layout:

Note minimap. One giant square in the middle. One oklob in the lower right corner. Haven't found a mapping scroll or dig/disint want yet but when I do I'll check for internal chambers.

It's true, we do need a thread for screenshots of people's stashes.

Once in the Lair I found a little three-room building with doors between the rooms and a fountain in the courtyard outside. I used that for my stash and prayer room.

I love that Abyss vault, it is fantastic! The gods are getting back at Lucy for corrupting their temple one too many times.

I also think a vault made on the theme of that robe wardrobe would be really cool, too - except all the robes are cursed and uncursed -1 and -2 robes, with perhaps one +0 robe of resist fire thrown in to make you look for it.

I view that vault the other way- the Gods aren't colonizing the abyss, rather, the temple has been banished.

Also, laughing at the random extra Oka altar that just happened to appear in there.

I don't even... what happened? I guessed at first it was a teleport gone wrong, where you had the misfortune to land in the one empty square in the middle of a wall. But even then we should see some floor below you. Not to mention the eight walls trapping you. So... not that.
