movement reform

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

Re: movement reform

I like the idea, but I don't think you need throw out diagonal movement entirely. This would make my killholes that I use to kill really tough monsters like d:1 gnolls with halberds much harder. What you should do is have "up left" be the diagonal to go up and left, so if you type u, you move up, but then if your next command is l, it undoes the step up, and then moves you ul (up-left) instead. So this second step is really just one move and doesn't take any additional time. Any damage you took moving up is undone when you moved upleft, making it possible to learn from your mistakes!

Re: movement reform

This is a great idea as it brings us one step closer to the dancepad input implementation we have all been craving for.

Re: movement reform

I'm now imagining twelve holding a custom crawl controller while he's on his surfboard shaped dance pad.
Lord of Lignification, we bow down to you.

...why aren't you bowing? Stop reading this and bow.
