Well, I finally, finally, finally, finally, finally won! Okay, I'm in trunk and used a couple of those outlandish rings, but it's my first win after hundreds of losses, and I'm happy!

This was a Gargoyle Berserker, who found boots of running (and learned how useful they are) and an amulet of regeneration early on. Everything else was pretty normal, except for the +41 ring of slaying and the +89 ring of evasion. I've NEVER survived the Abyss before. This time I got banished four different times. At first I ran from everything, but after awhile I slowed down and picked up some experience.

I hardly ever used Brothers in Arms, but when I did it was a lifesaver.

Three runes only, because I WON!

Anyway, time to update trunk and see if those rings are history.

Isn't that like totally cheating? How could anything have a chance of hitting you with +89 EV?, and what could stand long before +41 slaying? Claiming victory when you admit to exploiting a bug is just silly. And you waited to update, knowing it was a bug! That makes it super-silly.

Keep trying to get a win, but legitimately. It's a much more satisfying feeling.

You really shouldn't count this as a win.

Count it as whatever you want, but don't expect future wins to be quite so easy. With +41 slaying and +89 ev, you probably could have won without any armor, and using bread as a weapon.

I know, but it's been a long time. Now I know what the rest of the game looks like. Well, except for all the other branches. {Sigh}

i guess grats on this win or something, but when you're completely invincible and two hit kill everything it kind of takes the fun out of winning

It was a bug.

I thought they were testing high-powered rings, and temporarily made them widely available so people would find them. That was a guess, though.

I'm going to have to find a good place to ask for moment-to-moment help in my games. I don't seem to be able to get through the vaults or thereabout, even with a strong character.

I made the MackTheFife name in another place several years ago. It's not inspired, but by now it's me.
