Teleported into middle of Snake:5

I was clearing the area around the Snake:5 rune vault (the Serpent's Egg one title snake_pit). I got hit by Teleport Other from a mage and teleported into the middle of the throne room ( :o ).

The naga mage gestures at you while chanting.
You feel strangely unstable.
Your surroundings suddenly seem different.
A naga ritualist comes into view. It is wielding a dagger of venom.
The naga ritualist shouts!
A naga comes into view. It is wielding a mace.
The naga shouts!
A naga mage comes into view. It is wielding a halberd.
The naga mage shouts!
A naga warrior comes into view. It is wielding a spear.
The naga warrior shouts!
A naga sharpshooter comes into view. It is wielding a halberd.
The naga sharpshooter shouts!
A naga mage comes into view. It is wielding a runed scimitar.
The naga mage shouts!
A naga mage comes into view. It is wielding a glowing halberd.

Any suggestions on what to do? I'm thinking lignify -> bros -> bros -> berserk, but I don't think I can even survive that long. Also the vPois ability of the ritualists is pretty scary.

I would read tele, quaff agility, then probably fear, fog and would call BiA to have those nagas busy. Though fan of gales (lamp of fire/phial of floods) could be even better and probably using all those scrolls and potions is an overkill, you are at full HP and have high AC.

As Sandman said, I would tele out too.
After that try something like this:

I did it. Somehow I did it. It went something like torment (fail b/c blurred vision), torment (failed), blink, move 4 tiles, grab rune, read tp, quaff resistance, trog's hand, (tp behind rune wall), tp, (tp to east side of room), tp, (tp out of room), wand of digging, mad sprint to exit. Made it with 10 health and ridiculous amounts of poison.

By the way, vampiric weapons are nice, but not a +0 whip. I'd change it to something that actually deals some damage.

Why would you try to Torment? And !resistance was useless as well. I am glad it worked out for you, but still...

I'm also wondering why you're wearing a +1 storm dragon armour when you have 4 scrolls of enchant armour in inventory. Especially in 0.14 where scrolls could be destroyed.

Please please drop that whip, that ring of sustenance, probably the ring of fire too if you have a plain rf+ ring, enchant that armour or put all ?ea on a egoed plate armour, burn that -3 cloak and start to raise dex instead str on level up

Also I have been leveling Dex, I just have mutations and items that are going for Str. I also misclicked once :/

Short answer: use the eveningstar

Long answer:
Rpois is actually useful against like 3 enemies in the game, rc++ is an overkill in everyplace except kinda cocytus and maybe against lom lobon, and a 3 runes game is *easily* beatable even without rc+ at all. Same for rn+ (good to have as a switch, totally unnecessary to have always on). Rf+ is quite mandatory to win the game because orb of fires exist and are very dangerous,but outside zot you should consider as a good switch to have but far from being a fundamental thing.
In short, resistance are good to have if are a bonus, not the first thing to look, especially on a weapon.
A +8 whip does quite pathetic damage at this point of the game, and even being vampiric it can't give enough hp back to be worthwhile. Considering you have invested a lot in shield (I've no idea of your skills, but you have 46 SH so I'm assuming you've high shield skill) I'd keep going with 1hander. Thus, what you should aim for is a demon whip or an eveningstar. Antimagic is extremely strong because the most dangerous foes are usually spellcaster and it extremely weakens them.
Considering you're playing 0.14 you may raise that eveningstar at least up +5, and then if you have another g.whip or eveningstar with a good brand (like elec or vamp or whatelse) you could enchant that too to +5 and use the former against spellcaster and the latter against regular foes.


Tormenting is an exceptional bad plan in most cases (except being undead or kiku follower), because the first thing you want to do in a roguelike is to remain alive and that action hurts more your chances to wipe out everything in a situation like that than the chances of *many* enemies to wipe only you. Lignify would have been probably even a worse move, because it totally cripple you ability to manoeuvre during combat (and rightfully positioning before during and after combat is one the most important thing in the game, especially as Be!). Especially considering there were enemies capable of hurting you from range.
In a situation like that, the first thing to do is to reduce at minimum the number the enemies who can see/attack you asap. Fog, blinking,teleport, haste and fear (although the greater naga wouldn't have been affected by it)and obliviously some bros would have all been useful tools to use in this situation.

Probably. I have a cloud backup service so I tried out the torment -> evoke path, and it actually worked once. I was able to grab the rune and get out with haste.

Or just evoke Trog's Hand when monsters with Teleport Other spell come into view, usually it is enough.

Somehow that worked out. I picked up an antimagic eveningstar and got it up to +5,5 (0.14) and I'm using that for lack of a better weapon.

I try to think of a better weapon than a +5 antimagic eveningstar, but it's hard. Maybe a +6 antimagic eveningstar.

It's now a +8,8 eveningstar and I'm at Zot. Ironically my other best character died with 250k to a spriggan druid
