Crawl's randomly-generated artifact names have just reached a whole new level of "what".

Helmet, boots, buckler, and scale/leather of fire resistance? That's a great early shop for a mu with a longsword.

I already had boots and a shield, and I couldn't afford the scale mail, so the helmet was the only thing I could get. Unfortunately that particular mu died very soon afterwards while running to the stairs after a bad teleport placed it in the middle of a pack of gnolls, a pack of orcs, and Prince Ribbit.

Don't worry, someone else already ruined it for you, so it's safe to thank now.

Wow, are you serious? You can have a randart named fhqwhgads, but one named after the Duke of Venice gets removed because it sounds silly? Please remove curse toes, holy swines, crazy yiuf, donalds voice lines, mega bats, orc flavor text, octopodes, killer klowns, and death yaks. They are too silly for crawl.

I know you aren't serious in your request but I'd welcome the removal of most of those things.

If someone removes dyaks or donald's silky words we may have an actual problem 'round here.

Re: fgsfds

I've only ever heard of "Doge" in the Venetian context, so yeah I guess I learned something new today (and quickly wished I could get my 5 min back).

Nothing wrong with Donald's lines, the only thing joky about him is that he's amphibious. Don't see what's wrong with octopodes either, unless I'm missing some joke, which is very possible.

Re: fgsfds

An item genuinely intended to be a historical reference gets the axe due to coincidental homonymity with a silly dog, while intentionally silly features still remain in the game. This is the greatest upset of the past 30 minutes of my life.

I strongly doubt "of the Doge" was intended to be a historical reference considering that it was added immediately after good_names[21].

I know, right? It should have remained in because it was such a funny reference to an internet meme. Who cares about some ancient office, I want cute shibes to generate as friendly minions on every floor of the dungeon, who have hilarious quotes about "woof woof" and "yip yip" and "so doge so wow".

Seriously, shiba inu's are beautiful dogs. They can have "cat-like" personalities though, so be sure to train them well or they can end up not liking humans much. They're my girlfriend's favorite breed. If you added more to crawl, I might be able to get her to play it. She almost played Don't Starve because of this mod: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =225605311

Re: fgsfds

I tried to teach crawl to my girlfriend. first time she played, MiBe, found an awesome weapon of elec early, tabbed through the game, died at D:8; so I lost the bet that she could not reach D:5, and had to clean the house wearing nothing but an apron.
later, Tachin the MiBe killed a very promising character of mine.
dang.
my posts are to be read in a mildly playful tone, with a deep, sexy voice.
