I have never used Dragonform. Would you go for it? When? Or maybe should I just train some Earth for Stoneskin? Or stay spell-less and continue training UC/Fighting/Dodging?

Going Godless? Or are you planning to get Jiyva? I don't know about dragon form... Looks like a long shot. Blade Hands seems more reasonable if you have access to it, and murders everything with less skill investment. Otherwise, slap a shield on and remain Fighting/UC/Dodging/Shield.

Yes, going godless. Unfortunately those two books is all I could find so far so no Blade Hands yet. And no shield yet (even buckler). I considered training some skills for Mephitic Cloud, I like it in Orcish Mines.

Why Mo? Because I want UC, my DsTm was really weird because it relied more on AC than on EV.

I found some nice books (haste, repel missiles, blink, summon butterflies) so I am doing a not-recommended thing - training 10 skills simultaneously. Still not sure if I should go for Dragonform.

Yes, I didn't expect to have such high UC/Fighting/Dodging in Lair so Dragonform does not look too bad now.
The spell is not guaranteed. If it was in starting book of Tm, I would play Tm. I wanted to play a pure Mo (FeMo of Nemelex wasn't really Mo late game).

By "pure Mo" you mean "unarmed fighter without spells"? In this case, dragon form is simply out of question, no? :D

Speaking of dragon form, it was probably the most disappointing spell I ever tried. It looks very cool, and the damage output is very good, but it makes you extremely fragile (you lose a lot of EV and also AC).

I wouldn't recommend dragon form if you're looking for a reliable win. It's far too focused on offense and completely kills your defense. Blade hands does absurd damage without hurting your defenses much at all (just lose gloves, and a shield if you have one). It's much better. You don't have it yet, but that's not a reason to cast dragon form instead.

Your unarmed/fighting/dodging might be "high" for now, but they can always be higher, and that will help you a lot more than dragon form. I don't think it's too terrible to train several schools now to get some spells online, but I wouldn't worry about mephitic cloud being that important to a melee character, so I'd turn off air/poison/conjurations. Train charms, summoning, translocations, and spellcasting. Turn off physical skills. Once blink/repel/summon butterflies are at 1%, turn off summoning translocations and spellcasting, then train charms until haste is 1-4% fail, and then go back to physical. It can be reasonable to train 2-4 skills sometimes, but 10 is really stretching it :)

This game is crazy, 4 potions of beneficial mutations before Lair 8 (rElec, rPois, Blink and Fangs) so it looks like I don't need Blink any more. No Dragonform as suggested.
I like Meph Cloud because it really helps with Orc High Priests and Orc Sorcerers.

Edit. Yes, this game is crazy, just got a Hell Sentinel adjacent to me in Lair 8 :(

DF is a great spell. While it lower (*lower* not kill) significantly your defences it gives so much kill power that 1vs1 very few enemies can stand more than one turn or two and effectively do some damage. Even if are outnumbered, the hp bonus is so good that you are resilient enough to have enough turns to positioning yourself again (probably in that situation bh is better, but my advice is to not get mobbed by enemies as much as possible)

You can easily get 20ish ac/ev with DF. Even more is easily achievable, but I usually stop to train defences after DF is online because everything explode and you have so much hp that ac ev aren't so important.

Ti, dr: DF is a significant upgrade over bh, as long as you fight one enemy at time. Even if that isn't true DF is better than bh in many cases.

I see. So I can go for DF after getting Haste online (working on it currently), it should be fun experience. I learned Confusing Tough but I am not sure it is worth investment in Hexes, I have too many skills already (need minor Necromancy for Animate Skeleton also). Putting all remaining bonus points into Int.

Oops, Snake 2 has Jorgrun and my MR is really low. But it looks like I have no choice, Shoals and Elfs is even worse. Haste is almost castable, then I will get some levels in Armour and Dodging, defenses don't feel good.

Really stupid death. I forgot that wizard can paralyze despite having a warning and didn't swap to stasis :(
I had a +0 leather of MR but with it I would die to usual attacks like that:

It wasn't that hard since I was hasted when needed and UC was quite powerful. A wizard in Vaults banished my skeleton, I was telling skeletons to kill Ogre Magi when possible, switched to stasis vs Sphinx... I even went upstairs from that level and healed before returning, just stupid technical mistake :(
I will change my init.txt to require "more" for paralyzing monsters, it should help.

There are two types of characters. Ones with MR+++, and ones without MR+++. The first are prone to sudden failures and death, over reliance on consumables, and inducing fear and panic in their players. The second type tends to tab things a lot.

Having a script that warns you about paralyzing monsters is a band aid that is certainly helpful, but I am lazy and don't use such a script, or even really remember which mobs can paralyze, except for giant eyeballs. I just know that I get MR asap and I wear it before any other option. This tends to work out pretty well. And eyeballs are speed 3. You literally can't be slower than them even if you worship Chei on a naga.

I would probably enchant that MR leather armour if I didn't have stasis. Maybe I should have acquired jewelry, I had several acquirements in that game and spent all on armour.

No ring of MR, I take it. Rough.

I died to spinxralysis with a great character a couple weeks back. Still hurts. MR is extremely important throughout game, but particularly in the Depths.

Summon Butterflies is MR ++++++ so every god that isn't Trog gives you even more MR

Summon Butterflies is good in Pan but it's hard to avoid all Ogre Magi, Wizards, Great orb of eyes, Spinxes, Vampire Knights, Orc Sorcerers, Lich, Ancient Lich in Depths/Vaults.

Edit. That's why I am playing a Hu caster now, at least it can use Bolt spells infinitely.
