Not as amazing as some of the things here, but with 27 shield skill it gave him 60 SH. +6 on an artifact large shield is already pretty good. Add in rF++ and rC+ and you have a keeper.

I just found this. Shame it is on a caster. Still, I might keep it in my hands just for SInv and rF++. If I want to hit things, it would be a nice option.

Velocity crossbow (1.2 damage multiplier) is much better, especially with freezing/flaming bolts (1.4 damage multiplier which stacks with velocity multiplier).

I tried it in wizmode because ranged combat is so confusing and got different results in effective damage:

1) Maximum enchanted x-bow of speed with steel bolts and maxed skills while hasted against a worm: 50,X

2) Maximum enchanted x-bow of velocity with frost bolts and maxed skills while hasted against a worm: 45,X

So, the x-bow of speed indeed seems to be better with worms lousy defences. Playing 0.13 (I don't build it every morning so not the newest).

Steel bolts are not special, they only mulch rarer. Speed x-bow can be better for killing monsters with high HP and low AC (0.9*1.5 > 1.2) but it is easier to one-shot something with velocity x-bow.
