Quaff Identifying Potion of Experience Causes Crash

Topic. Tested 3 times with this character, crashed every time.

This isn't a crash, you just died. An adder was attacking you while you were quaffing potions. Read the message history.
<+Grunt> You dereference an invalid pointer! Ouch! That really hurt! The game dies...

Also it's apparently a potion of mutation. I suspect the OP just got the wrong char dump because this appears to be a real issue: https://crawl.develz.org/mantis/view.php?id=6661

No, I died after the bug.

Crash 1: I didn't know exactly what happend. I remember I was nearing death, and quaffed a potion hoping for something good. Upon reopening, the game started over from when I first entered that level.
Crash 2: Nearly the same thing as crash 1, this time when I quaffed the potion I realized it was the same hotkey as the previous crash. Upon restarting, the game started over midway in the level. My new goal was to find a scroll of identify, so I could find out what potion is crashing the game.
Crash 3: Nearing death, I quaffed the same potion (hoping to restart at a previous point, so I could continue my search for id scroll). Game restarted in the same spot where I was before the crash. I started quaffing unid potions (and not the potion of experience), to hopefully reduce the number of unid potions of the same quantity. I was successful in this, but I died shortly thereafter. The potion of experience was the only unid potion in my bag, therefore it must be the potion that was causing the bug.

No I have the correct char dump, and it wasn't the potion of mutation that caused the crash. My report is nearly the exact same thing as his.

Interesting, all of those reports invole a mac (some with different versions). I'm also running Mac 10.6.8

Thanks for posting, now I know where to report another bug that I found. However, this bug I do not know what happened, there is no morgue file, only the save file. When I open the save file, it crashes the game. How would I properly report it?

Log in to Mantis with the same id/pw that you use here, click the Report Issue link at the top, fill in as much info as you can. With a crash bug, you should have a crash log in your morgue folder (in your case, many crash logs... the latest one is likely the one you want, but you can read them to make sure). On unix-based systems like OS X they'll contain very helpful info. Attach to the issue your crash log and the saved game file that crashes when you try to load it.

Thank you. I didn't realize that there was an actual crash file. That makes it pretty clear that this was caused by a potion of experience.

That ought to cover it. The logs are consistent with the other Potion of Experience crashes on OS X. Something after the call to adjust_level() trips an assertion failure. In the case of the felid, the death penalty is calling the function, but both problems probably have the same root cause.
