Spell menu colors - 0.9 Tiles

I've been trying to customize my spell lists (both memorized and to be memorized - I and M menus) to stop crawl from displaying spells that don't match my race's best aptitudes in dark grey. It's very hard to read and there doesn't seem to be much point to it. I've read the options guide and have added what I think are the right values to init.txt and to menu_colours.txt to no avail.

So my questions are:

What would be the proper entries to force all spells to appear in either the standard message color (lightgrey I think) or white?

Do changes to color settings show up in saved games or do you need to start a new game to see them?
