New/Old Account Issue

Hello,

I have recently registered to play Crawl online under the name "Lars" which was apparently not taken. Then surprisingly--http://crawl.akrasiac.org/scoring/players/lars.html--it seems that someone else was registered as "Lars" well before I was even aware of the game, and their subpar stats have been integrated into my new account. Is there any way an admin can fix this or do I just have to deal with it?

You have to deal with it. CAO scoring combines all accounts with the same names across all servers. Server's don't have unified account list.

Couldn't someone easily mess with another's stats if they wanted to be a jerk?

Yes, and that has happened in the past, especially regarding streak breaking (since most other stats can only get better with more games). I might be working on a new scoreboard (with someone else) that hopes to fix these issues, but it's months away...
