Does offline DCSS have a crash/blackout recovery system?

Problems running or configuring the software, commands & options, compiling, different platforms, using the interface, documentation, etc.

Does offline DCSS have a crash/blackout recovery system?

This is something I'm really paranoid about - given the occasional power outages around here, as well as the ever-present possibility for a crash, I want to know: does DCSS have some inbuilt backup system that allows me to continue with minimal loss of progress in case of a crash? Losing a character after having played 20 hours with it to a death is infuriating, but losing it to a technical error would be much worse.

DCSS saves every time you change floors; if you crash or lose power or whatever you should find yourself back at the point you entered the current floor.
