Download latest version yields 0.13

I have just tried to load Crawl on my new Ubuntu computer. I think I followed the instructions correctly from here: https://crawl.develz.org/download.htm

That includes the line: echo 'deb https://crawl.develz.org/debian crawl 0.17' | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list

... which clearly says crawl 0.17

All the linux lines acted successfully.

When I started up Crawl, I found I was running 0.13.

I decided I must have done it wrong, so I reinstalled everything. The progress reports during this installation indicated that I already had loaded the latest versions.

When I restarted Crawl, I was again in 0.13.

Any advice on what I'm doing wrong?

Interestingly, Crawl 0.13 is not even in the official OS repository, 0.16 is:

How are you determining the version of crawl is 0.13?

On the new game / saved game page, at the top, it says "Hello, welcome to Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup 0.13.1!"

The game has darts in it. Scrolls and rings don't auto identify when read / worn.

You might have more luck asking on the irc channels, ##crawl or ##crawl-dev. More people there have experience with that sort of thing.

I would do 'which crawl' and make sure you are actually running the version of Crawl you just installed, maybe both are present in your system and 13 is just sooner in your path search.
