Upgrading version during an offline game

I play offline stable, and I play slowly at a rate of a few hours a week. I am in the middle of a promising character on 0.17.0, but I've noticed that there is a bug-fix 0.17.1 available. Can I transfer my 0.17.0 game in progress to 0.17.1, and if so, how?

Just download and install the new version, you should be able to resume with your saved game with the new version automatically. At least that's how it has worked for me.
