Problems running or configuring the software, commands & options, compiling, different platforms, using the interface, documentation, etc.

How do I configure travel stoppers?

I'd like certain messages to stop auto-travel and auto-explore such as:

Your transformation is about to expire
lose your buoyancy

I have already configured these messages with force_more prompts but if I am auto-travelling I press Enter to acknowledge the -more- prompt and my character just keeps on exploring without giving me an opportunity to take action. How can I configure these messages to stop auto-travel? Thank you,

Re: How do I configure travel stoppers?

OK, here is the complete process, based on Wes' explanation:

1. Download Putty. You can get it here: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/

2. Run Putty and login to crawl.develz.org via Telnet, port 345

3. Login using your WebTile login & password

4. Select 1 (Crawl 0.8)

5. Select o (edit options)

6. Scroll down to the bottom and paste this in (right mouse click worked for me as the paste command):

    travel_stop_message = duration:
    force_more_message = duration:

    travel_stop_message = You are starting to lose your buoyancy
    force_more_message = You are starting to lose your buoyancy

    travel_stop_message = You have a feeling this form
    force_more_message = You have a feeling this form
    message_colour = lightred:You have a feeling this form

    travel_stop_message = Your transformation
    force_more_message = Your transformation
    message_colour = lightred:Your transformation

    travel_stop_message = You feel uncertain
    force_more_message = You feel uncertain

    travel_stop_message = Your deflect missiles
    force_more_message = Your deflect missiles

7. Save, exit, and go enjoy WebTiles! :mrgreen:

Re: How do I configure travel stoppers?

While you are at it, you might want to go ahead and make the following changes:

Section 4-i
easy_eat_chunks = true
easy_exit_menu = false

Section 4-j
mp_warning = 30
show_gold_turns = true

The first option allows you to eat clean chunks just by hitting e. The second disables exiting menus with the down arrow (like when you ctrl-p to look at messages) -- this will help prevent some YASDs. The third is one I like to use to tell me I need to retreat or channel. Set it to whatever you prefer. The last shows the number of turns you have taken. Very very very important if you want to play with Death's Door.

Enjoy! :mrgreen:

This is the default now.
<+Grunt> You dereference an invalid pointer! Ouch! That really hurt! The game dies...
