The Websocket connection was closed.

I was playing WebTiles this evening, and I saved my game to check in the lobby if a friend was online... I then attempted to go back into my game and got the message:

The Websocket connection was closed. Reload to try again.

I've reloaded, restarted the browser and rebooted the computer - but I still can't play. I can spectate other games fine and I can login with my username (Regnix) and password fine.. but I get the message when clicking the link to resume my game (https://tiles.crawl.develz.org/#play-dcss-web-0.8)

Any help is greatly appreciated, I don't want to lose my level 21 character! :-( I'm running Chrome in Ubuntu 10.10 and have had no problems until now.

Re: The Websocket connection was closed.

I wonder if I crashed the WebTiles server? I lost connection a short time ago as soon as I used a down stairs to Vault 3. Now the site is not available. I could submit a bug report on Mantis but I'm not sure if it was just a coincidence that I used the downstairs and it crashed immediately. The character name is 'Wesley' if you want to check it out.

Re: The Websocket connection was closed.

I've been having similar problems to Regnix - I get the message that the websocket connection was closed, or sometimes other errors, but can sometimes still watch other games if I am not logged in.

Re: The Websocket connection was closed.

Napkin just restarted the server, so the problems should be gone for now. It seems some connections are not getting closed, and the server reached the limit. Hopefully, I'll find the bug before this happens again.

Hey edlothiol, is there any chance that this will get set up on the CAO server at some point? Thanks for your hard work!

Re: The Websocket connection was closed.

Is there a limit on the amount of people playing Webtiles ?

It looks like when there's around 15 or a bit more players, i get the "websocket connection was closed" message , or i get the player list but there's no name/password entry anymore.

Re: The Websocket connection was closed.

There's a bug which causes the server to mistakenly think the maximum number of connections is reached. This will be fixed soon.

Thank you, it was just in time for my first conquest of the orb in the tournament
(and that is additionally my first win ever online)

Re: The Websocket connection was closed.

I installed firefox 4.0.1 to play webtiles. After enabling websockets (enabled = true and override-security-block = true) i dont get anymore the message that my browser doesnt support
websockets but instead i get immediately the "websocket connection was closed" message.
At a different pc (and different internet connection) it was working without problems. So i wonder if there is any other setting on the browser or on my windows system that may cause troubles....

ps: i installed opera, there it works but its super slow :(

Use Chrome. Its JavaScript processing is better.
