Power-outage consequences

What happens in case of a power outage? Is progress restoreable, or is all just lost?

It depends. If the save wasn't actively being written to disk, you would usually get reset back to the last save (note that saves happen automatically when changing levels or even looking at a different level, and in some other situations, not all of which are visible to the player). However, if it was writing to the save, depending on your OS, filesystem, and hardware, the save could well be corrupted. We do take steps to try to prevent that from happening, but there's only so much you can do if your disk does hardware write caching and doesn't have a battery backup.

For this message the author neil has received thanks:
