Hey all,

i'm sure someone is looking into it allready, Lantea CLAN server is down :(.
Is there any notice about when the server will be online? (yes i'm addicted :D).

Otherwise i might start a game on another server with the same nickname (but US mostly lags me)

Thanks in advance, and happy crawling!

I'm from Europe and had some short games on the American CSZO server a while ago. In my opinion it's near impossible because of the lag.

Let's hope lantea will be back soon.

In Bulgaria the fastest server is CLAN.
The very first Webtiles server, a few years ago, was also quite fast, but I can't remember if it was located in Europe.

TZero will fix it hopefully ... gogo .. you can do it ;-)

to ask again ..what would be the desired specs (esp. connection-wise) to set up another european server for the comunity?

I'm surprised you asked this before and didn't get an answer. As I'm not sure if admins or server admins will read your post: what about asking them with a personal message / e-mail?

I think it would be nice to have a second server in central Europe.

Sorry for the wait, there are two things going on right now:

1. We are again checking for disk errors. We will be notifying Hetzner about the issues once we can.
2. Aleksi is transferring all control of the servers to me once this is done.

Hopefully, this will mean faster service-times and fewer issues in the future.

Again, sorry for the interruption of service.

Edit:
A part of the problem is that Aleksi has very little spare time as of now.

CLAN was hosted on a relatively slow virtual machine with 2 GB RAM, I would recommend having 4 GB for a really smooth experience. The CPU is mostly only a bottleneck if you have many players on your server and when compiling new versions.

200 GB+ and you should be relatively safe in terms of replays for a good while.
Connection-wise, not much is required, I haven't really checked as it hasn't been an issue.

Sorry for not having answered this before, I was not on purpose trying to ignore these questions - in fact, I've answered them before in ##crawl-dev, but not on the forums.

Besides, the more servers we get in Europe, the better as we'll have lower load-values and more redundancy. :)

in fact i am mildly interested to set up another server for europe once i am set in my current new workplace/flat and figured out how to keep the costs (albeit minimal) balanced :-)

Status update: Aleksi is still loaded with real-life stuff - hopefully it gets lighter on Thursday, giving him a bit of time to fix things and and them over to me.

Edit: at least the other servers get some traffic and hopefully it'll be slightly more spread after this. Smoother and better experience for everyone. :)

Yes, it's very nice that xtahua server is running. There doesn't seem to be too much difference between playing on a German and a French server.

Yeah on player scoring page it is shown,
I mean on this page: http://crawl.develz.org/wordpress/player-status, games on CLAN are not listed.
