Downloading 0.11

Please help, I'd like to download the 0.11 version. I found a link on the homepage that points to http://sourceforge.net/projects/crawl-r ... up/0.11.2/
but there are 6 different files there to download, and I have no idea how to proceed.

Re: Downloading 0.11

stone_soup-0.11.2-win32.zip is the windows console version
stone_soup-0.11.2-tiles-win32.zip is the windows version tiles version
stone_soup-0.11.2-win32-installer.exe i presume is the installer version that i would presume contains both
the other files i would guess contain the uncompiled source files

You would most likely be interested in either the first or the second of the ones I mentioned.
take it easy
  Code:
!lg * won !DD-- min=turns -log
<Sequell> 20749. Bloax, XL24 VSTm, T:13320: http://crawl.lantea.net/crawl/morgue/Bloax/morgue-Bloax-20140907-000920.txt

Did you know that I like ruining crawl every now and then? Go check it out.

Well, I guess it is not as easy as that. I tried the tiles version, but whenever I start the .exe file, it reaches the "Loading databases" phase but then it freezes. That is why I think maybe some components are missing, or maybe some tricky installlation is needed.

No, there's no tricky installation. Maybe update your graphic drivers. You need proper OpenGL support. Have you tried several times? Under windows, sometimes the databases fail to load, but it's random.
Why don't you want a more recent version btw?

Well, the 0.13 version is running on my computer, so why not the 0.11?

This is offtopic here, but in my opinion the 0.11 version was the best, and it is not even close. This is surely subjective (I learned the game in 0.11), but the more recent versions are full of terrible features: new Abyss, new Vaults, new Crypt... The only good change the developers made since 0.11 was getting rid of nausea.

Re: Downloading 0.11

Okay, I guess I noticed a problem. I did not uninstall the current version of crawl, simply downloaded the 0.11 one, which did not overwrite the other version, simply created another folder. Is this a problem? Do I need to uninstall first? If yes: if there a way to keep my scores?

Re: Downloading 0.11

You don't need to uninstall 0.13 as long as you keep 0.11 in a separate folder. If you want, you can copy the 'scores' file from your 0.13 saves folder to the saves folder for 0.11, but they won't stay in sync after that.

How long did you wait at the Loading Databases screen? The first time I start crawl on a new computer, that message and the maps one take considerably longer. I've also known earlier versions of crawl to freeze there but get past it after a few tries.

Re: Downloading 0.11

If you're using the installer, the save folder will be shared between versions. And the dat folder inside saves is where the databases are. Try deleting it (it will be recreated anyway). It's located in %APPDATA%\crawl IIRC.

I waited for an hour, I guess that should be enough, but no.

Maybe trying again and again will help somehow, I keep trying.

I copied the whole folder from drive C: to drive D:, and now it works. Weird.

Thanks for the help, anyway.

Probably a permissions thing in that case, you probably had something read-only or "as administrator" or something.
