Mummy curses

Perhaps all varieties of mummies could give yet another status, 'Cursed' that could work a bit like Wrath. You could have a list of effects like miscasts, item cursing, potion destroying, draining. Perhaps 1d(mummy-type) of Curse points, and values assigned to effects, so a single item curse would reduce the Curse points by a small amount, while while a Torment would reduce by a much larger amount. Damaging or harmful effects like sickness might wait for a tension trigger, while item destruction and or potion decay could happen over time.

Reading back over that, it sounds like a complicated solution for a small problem. :/ Whatever. Tell me what you think.
