Need a hound that can raise the dead.

Currently, the top-level hound is a hell hound which, by it's potential first appearance by L8 is not a big deal.

What would be awesome is if that hound ending vault, which accumulates corpses by the pile, had a hound that could "howl", casting Animate Dead to raise the dead.

Might be a fun addition to Lair.

Re: Need a hound that can raise the dead.

Or merge it with hell entrance and make it three-headed, then name it Cerberus or something.

But isn't hell hound kind of a big deal if you don't have rF and conservation, especially for characters doing lair:8?

There are already over 10 monster books with animate dead, can't you just use one of those monsters?

If you know them offhand as you apparently purport, why not list them or suggest one of them as an animal themed monster to use in lair?

Or with your years of experience, why not put one forth to be reworked to be used?

Cerberus would be a great unique there.

The problem here is though, at the moment, given the hell end vault, the bodies do not pile up by the hell entrance end vault for an "animate dead" to make any difference. I'm referring to the dog end vault.

Unborn, deep dwarf death knight, lich, ancient lich, vampire mage, orc sorcerer, Josephine, hellwing, shadow imp, Boris, ancient champion, draconian zealot, and necromancer aren't enough for you?

What if the dog zombies were all raised with permanent Inner Flame?

Oh wow. Give Hell Hounds a howl ability to raise the dead with inner flame would be... well, INTERESTING to say the least.

Re: Need a hound that can raise the dead.

If your complaint is that the hound vault has enemies that are too weak, I don't think that's much improved by having you kill the same enemies twice. Permanent inner flame could work on one or two zombies at a time, but anything more than that would get out of hand, and not in a fun way.

I don't think it is a huge deal either way, but having there be two or three hellhounds at the end with a reaper caretaker (like a buffed up Grum-meets-Sigmund) would make me smile.

Re: Need a hound that can raise the dead.

Whether it's in this vault or elsewhere, exploding zombies in needs to be a thing.
The best strategy most frequently overlooked by new players for surviving: not starting a fight to begin with.
