Proposal: Replace Teleport Other in Greater Naga spellset

Having the biggest threats in Snake:$ (excepting a nasty unique) teleport you away from them is not threatening to the player. It gives the player a chance to heal, and assuming the rest of the floor was cleared before attempting the rune chamber, it's an annoyance to have to hike back across an empty floor to get back to where you were. If we want to stick with tloc magic, I'd suggest Blink Other Close, since it could be used to yank the player into constriction range. I realize, though, that Blink Other Close is currently Roxanne's gimmick.

Blink Other Close is too dangerous IMHO, you can deal with Teleport Other by reading scroll of teleportation/vulnerability or evoking ring of cTele. I am really scared every time it teleports me, it makes me consider leaving the level.

They don't teleport you away. They teleport you randomly. Which can land you in the rune vault. Which is really bad.
I mean, if you wanna take your chances in a game with permadeath, be my guest.
Greater Nagas seem pretty imposing to me as they are, tbh.

That's true, they can teleport you deeper into the vault. But, given the size of the vault compared to the rest of the floor, you're more likely to get teleported somewhere safe.

Some vaults are really large and really dangerous.
Greater nagas are really good enemies as they stand: they can take a beating, everything they have in their spellsets is dangerous and they can beat the crap out of people in melee without any problem, as well as being immune to all hexes but dazzle.
Gnagas are not very common in snake out of the rune vault, and in the rune vault they tend to come in packs with the other dangerous nagas like warriors and mages. So if you give them blink close you've got a really dangerous enemy that appears exclusively with other dangerous enemies and has an irresistible spell that fucks with your positioning immensely. Teleother is dangerous enough as it is.

If you put one bullet in a revolver and spin the chamber and point it at your head and pull the trigger then you're more likely to not die than you are to die, but that doesn't make it a good idea.

Based on Wahaha's post, I think quitting could use a buff. Give it MR-check paralysis and irresistible blink other.

It already ignores MR; why would it suddenly need to check MR?

That post wasn't ment entirely seriously. It isn't that I think Greater Nagas need a buff per se, I just think there are better choices for their spellset than Teleport Other, for the reasons stated above. I'm totally aware that Blink Other Close is an especially nasty replacement, but I think it's better design for dificulty to be too high and get adjusted down, than vice versa.

But why should it be 'too high' in this situation when they're already statistically the most dangerous high-tier lair branch enemy? (I'm stingy lately, aren't I?)

Teleport other is the only spell in the game that I know of that actually leaves its owner at a disadvantage without making up for it in any way. Greater nagas are strong enough, they don't need a buff god damnit.
