Hooray for the new scroll of immolation!

So last night I discovered that in the latest builds, Scroll of Immolation gives Inner Flame to every enemy in LOS. I love this.

After discovering it, I found myself at low health running from a pack of yaks flanked by vampire mosquitoes. I didn't have the power to stop and fight them, and I couldn't outrun them, so I read the scroll, tossed a Venom Bolt on the yak behind the front mosquito, and stepped away in time for the yak detonation to kill the mosquito -- and since I stepped away, the front mosquito's chain explosion didn't catch me. The trailing cloud of flame prevented the rear mosquitoes from chasing me, and I ran to safety.

This is a really fun and interesting tactical consumable.

This sounds a lot more interesting and suicidal than the current one which just goes poof and takes 10 hp off.

Inner Flame is the best spell. Also, I finally beat my second 15-runer today, of 3 full wins overall. LOFi, never memorized Inner Flame.

Can't immolate the water elemental in 10 runes challenge anymore though, that's a shame.

As a felid, Inner Flame yourself right before death as a kamikaze tactic But only once you're in Dragon Form to make the explosion have some serious OOMPH behind it.

The scroll was very useful against a group of orcs, warriors, wizards and priests. It has much more utility than before.

I just blew up most of the Elf:3 vault with one of these. I think the autopickup should probably grab them now.

The blast doesn't hurt the player, or are the above players just highly resistant to fire and/or range attacking?

2) run away
3) roast marshmallows

Anyone else think Inner Flame the spell is useless now? It was only situationally useful before, and now for those situations you'll probably have the scroll available.

I think Inner Flame is useful to CeAM - cast Inner Flame, start shooting (with Portal Projectile if necessary) at the monster, run away if no luck.

You get a lot more casts of Inner Flame than reads of the scroll. I'd still memorize Inner Flame on the right characters. That said, I think the scroll should be auto-pickup.

I think Inner Flame is useful to CeAM - cast Inner Flame, start shooting (with Portal Projectile if necessary) at the monster, run away if no luck.

I actually use inner flame all the time as my regular damage do-er for a long time with my fire mages It's great with conjure flame and orcs (one kills an orc warrior pretty handily). It's even Ok with sticky flame as long as you have an easy way to get the heck out of dodge after stickying something.

It's also excellent with animate skeleton/dead (Which makes for a slow moving, cheap, powerful fireball)

If you're aware of how it works and don't kill yourself with it, it's a really awesome spell. Restricting it to scrolls only would suck.

Inner flame is a well designed spell: powerful, but potentially dangerous to the user. That's good. Spell should definitely be kept, and making immolation into "scroll of mass inner flame" really was a stroke of genius, as the old immolation scrolls were pretty damn pointless. Now, they aren't.

Of course, now the name doesn't make a whole lot of sense. But I do like the new scroll.

Why doesn't the name make sense? It does (generally) lead to fiery deaths, just not immediately.

The connotation is one of sacrifice. It's not really a sacrifice if you're doing it to someone else.

I think new immolation is scroll that should be on auto pick up!
