Stabbing won't be in the game by the time this makes it in.

Related: https://crawl.develz.org/tavern/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4482 (I actually like this version more than I like the OP's).
https://crawl.develz.org/wiki/doku.php?id=dcss:brainstorm:species:propose:arachnid

Poison immunity makes no sense, as spiders and insects in this game are considered especially vulnerable to poison. Arachne has no poison vulnerability, but her resistance is due to always having a staff of poison. I'd go for innate rP- for a drawback that no species have, and a similar bonus to spider form as draconians get with dragon form.
I also see no reason the elf aspect. Lolth does not exist here, and we don't need to completely crib from D&D.
Lastly, I see no justification for most of the aptitudes you have.

Spiders in Crawl are vulnerable to poison.
I don't know why I even posted that, it just bothers me.

I posted a dwarf equipment character and an elf equipment character.
I think racial equipment is under-used.
I considered Poison vulnerability and am open to that idea.

"Resistant" to poison tends to offend less I understand.

Regarding the aptitudes. Basically this is a elf-spider combo, with a dark twist.

But you don't have to like it.

I was most proud of the spider spawning and the web shooting ideas anyways.

i do understand the revulsion to using an idea so obviously inspired from an existing game (D&D). Perhaps some of the above ideas could be incorporated into a new insect species of sorts (one has been mulled for a long time). Perhaps a more purely arachnid species would be better.

I think racial equipment is over-rated and it should probably be removed so that people don't get tricked into believing it does anything important

Well that's certainly another way of dealing with the problem (racial armour).

What's with everyone's obsession on this forum with removing features rather than building upon them?

I firmly believe that if the Devs and some of you blind followers have your way, DCSS will end up as a RL simulator relying on a RNG to simply tell the player if they won or not after they choose their race/background combo. That's the final form some of you are striving for.

solution: remove the forum.

Please read what you wrote. Then read it again. Maybe once more, for good measure, maybe aloud. Then please ask yourself—do you really, actually believe this, or did you exaggerate just a little bit for the sake of snark? It's okay, you can be honest.

or by all means keep setting up ridiculous strawmen, they are pretty and the new Lava Orcs, Gargoyles, and Djinni love to look at them standing in the new Forest

I don't believe in a spider species, but I am convinced by now that racial armour is not good enough. We've talked about it for years, and there seem to be no decent proposals. Best to scrap it. (The main raison d'etre I can see right now is Beogh and properly clad orcish gentlemen.)

Perhaps one final brainstorm is in order... (certinaly not here; sorry for being OT).

I frequently take advantage of elven body armor to wear heavier armor without restricting my spellcasting as much. Otherwise, I try to find dwarven mainly for the slightly higher AC, although not corroding is a nice perk as well.

There seems to be no use for orcish armor unless you're actually an orc. But elven/dwarven I frequently go out of my way to use.

Dangit, didn't mean to thank.
Rather, what I meant to do is say that the casting bonus for elf armor gives it some reason to exist.
However, I will say that I dislike OP's proposal. The new races being added to crawl (Lava orc, dijin, gargoyle) all have some kind of interesting mechanic about them. Driders would just be a race with a different set of aptitudes and one evocable ability.
