Strangely familar sprites

Although the central place for design discussion is ##crawl-dev on freenode, some may find it helpful to discuss requests and suggestions here first.

Strangely familar sprites

Greetings fellow crawlers,

Feel free to move this post if it's in the wrong area.

Recently i was browsing a site that sells indie games and i came upon a certain indie game called "Lost labyrinth". Since it advertised itself as a dungeon crawling i was interested.

But when looking at the screenshots i saw some -really- (read identical) sprites that Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup has. Here is a screenshot of the sprites in question: http://www.desura.com/games/lost-labyri ... allerylist They are basically just exact copies of the electric eel and the giant goldfish creatures of DDSS.

Now i'm not sure what the situation is, but if this is an actual rip without permission of whoever created this (or DDSS) then someone might want to loook into it, since this game is actually being sold for 9.99 on the website.

Cheers,

Blobber.

Lots (most? all?) of Crawl's tiles are public domain - I think these old ones originally come from http://rltiles.sourceforge.net. I vaguely remember this game (and its tiles) being mentioned before on the Tavern even, but I can't find the thread.

See: http://gitorious.org/crawl/crawl/blobs/master/crawl-ref/licence.txt
Certain pieces come with different licenses, all compatible with the GPL.
These include:

* 3-clause BSD: MSVC/stdint.h
* 2-clause BSD: all contributions by Steve Noonan and Jesse Luehrs
* Public Domain|CC0: most of tiles, perlin.cc, perlin.h
* MIT: json.cc/json.h, some .js files in webserver/static/scripts/contrib/
worley.{cc,h}
* zlib: webserver/static/scripts/contrib/inflate.js
