Fewer meat stacks

Sooooo, is there a reason why meat of different species doesn't stack? Wouldn't it be alright if there was only clean meat, contaminated meat, poisoned meat, mutagenic meat, using the existing meat age code to separate the stacks?

Or maybe there's a super great reason for how it is right now, but if so, would it be alright to stack meat by species at least? So stuff like having 4 stacks of 1 green/red/black/grey draconian meat would instead have 1 stack of 4 draconian meat?

Re: Fewer meat stacks

I'd guess Simulacrum is the primary reason chunks are sorted by origin. I'm not sure if all draconian simulacrums are the same so I don't know if that would make a difference there.

Re: Fewer meat stacks

The stacks have a different age, they won't rot at the same time.

Differently aged potions of blood stack together, right? And the game just picks the oldest one when you use it.

Re: Fewer meat stacks

I thought similar chunks of different ages already stacked together until changing rot status? Anyway, drac chunks sorted by color is silly.

Re: Fewer meat stacks

You could just have:

  Code:
a - 6 chunks of yak meat
b - 2 rotting chunks of yak meat

...

The smell of decaying meat makes you hungry!

...

a - 2 chunks of yak meat
b - 6 rotting chunks of yak meat

...

Some of the chunks in your inventory have completely rotted away.

...

a - 2 chunks of yak meat
b - 4 rotting chunks of yak meat

... which would be kind of nice when murdering yaks.

Really, with auto_foo_chunks, though, I don't think about chunk management anymore.

Sure, it could be implemented in a similar way. Patches are welcome.

They do but only if the age difference is less than 5 turns.

Just increase the difference to (apocalypse) turns (SARCASM WARNING NOT A SERIOUS PROPOSAL)
