Staves as starting weapon for monks

Probably not needed, since most of the artificer starts are with 2 wands (and sometimes a dagger). Only one of the choices is a rod, and it's possibly the weakest of the artificer starts (choosing it means you don't start with a good way of attacking things, since the rod of striking is so awful).

The rod of striking is a bit less awful, now (1d8 and misses instead of 1d5 and misses, if I recall correctly), but yes.

wow. Brilliant idea about stave artificer. Needs some tweaking with rods though.

Well, FWIW, I started a few staff monks beck when they became an option and not much became of any of them.
