Unarmed Humans

Is this a game design thing or intentional, or has anyone else noticed various generic humans in vaults do not appear to be armed?

There is a volcano vault that ends with toenail golems that has unarmed humans that I thought used to be armed with swords.
There is a vault for The Vaults entrance with necromancers and a couple Vault guards and a bunch of humans, but again, unarmed.

Not sure if they're supposed to be monks or just unarmed, but I expected weapons.

Re: Unarmed Humans

It's for realism purposes, when's the last time you saw a human with a sword

Re: Unarmed Humans

Only when I play them, and I never play as humans, so... wow.

Re: Unarmed Humans

Go look up the definition for that volcano in the .des files and you'll see the explanation for the humans.

I found yesterday a ring of humans and Rupert, surrounding the stairs. Some kind of folklore dancing ?

Re: Unarmed Humans

My theory is that they are part of a welcome committee.

Now something relevant, why not adding women to fill some roles ? With console is easy to figure out that human @ are either male or female but in tiles I find the dungeon too similar to San Francisco.

I'll have you know that Human tile is deliberately gender-neutral

It's a joke that works much better in console: humans, including human uniques and vault guards all use the @ glyph. So the ring of humans looks like the V:$ welcome committee.

Re: Unarmed Humans

I thought it was a capital 4, but your explanation makes more sense. Does GV$ take you to the deepest level of the Vaults?

It takes you to the deepest level you've seen.

Re: Unarmed Humans

Crawl has context sensitive help: if you do GV?, then:
  Code:
Interlevel Travel (go to a specific level in the selected branch)
Type in the level number you want to go to and hit Enter, or use:
Enter  : Go to the default level.
<      : Change the default to one level above the current.
 >      : Change default to one level below the current.
 - or p : Change default to the branch above this one.
$      : Change default to deepest visited level in this branch.
^      : Change default to the entrance to the current level.

Hey, some of us are video editors. Show me a roguelike that uses Final Cut Pro's standard inputs and I'll be all over it :D

Re: Unarmed Humans

The thing is, the humans used to be armed.
And there is a vault vault with humans and necromancers and the humans aren't armed there too; it feels like a glitch.
