Lowering the turn count required for eating small food

Although the central place for design discussion is ##crawl-dev on freenode, some may find it helpful to discuss requests and suggestions here first.

Lowering the turn count required for eating small food

Eating small food (grapes, sultanas, strawberries) that are generated in packs still takes 2 turns per piece, correct? This seems somewhat unrealistic from a realism standpoint, and also makes eating/carrying/picking up these foods bad from a maximum score standpoint. Can the turns required to eat them be drastically lowered? Cutting them down to one helps, but I'd suggest, if technically feasible, making it more like .2 (for the smallest) to .5 (for the larger) turns per item.

In this case, the knowledge bots are wrong, someone with control of those should update it. I'll check the wiki.

I think they're up to date with the current stable version. In trunk, the smallest foods take 1 turn to eat.

You should be able to eat a whole stack of sultanas in 1 turn.

Grapes, sultanas and ambrosia take 1 turn. Strawberries and other fruits still take 2 turns. Bots aren't up-to-date regarding the 1 turn food items.

I imagine it's pretty hard to eat a whole cluster of sultanas in one turn. Possible, but I think there would be a choking hazard...

Apparently eating a whole steak takes the same amount of time as eating two grapes? :P

Choking, huh? I assume gourmand will function like magical breathing and prevent YASD by shoving food down your fat face?

This is the game that requires you to dissect your dead beast before you chomp on it. Clearly you're taking time to peel the grapes.
You fall off the wall. You have a feeling of ineptitude.

I know this is gimmicky but the thread is basically done with anyway... Bananas need to give you a throwable peel upon consuming that will rot if not used: the idea is not to throw it at someone, but in front of a monster, to make them lose just one turn. Or perhaps the peel drops directly on your square.

So you will eat a banana (somewhat rare item), it will still takes space in your inventory with his peel, and you will loose a turn to throw it on one monster so he loose a turne too. O_o

Don't get into featurisis.

Any chance bananas could be consumed to cure nausea, because that's at least somewhat realistic?

And in the Yiuf corner, discuss turns required for pooping.

Guys, this is "game design discussion." As in...discussion of things that would actually work in the game. Random things go in CYC.

To be fair, I have been thinking about that "bananas cure nausea" thing for quite a while because nausea at high hunger levels is really annoying.

OK, I think this thread has rather run its course; I'm locking it. Nausea & related discussions should go for a new thread; if anyone really wants to talk turncounts for little foods, PM me and I'll unlock.
