Hey its me again.
I finally got done with Dark souls and Skyrim, also Crawl has been beating me up lately.

That means I've been drawing alot more. I've already made a new title splash with a Firemage.

So what should I do next? I think i'll draw up Sigmund while you guys decide on what else needs to be done.

So... just suggestions as to what would look cool? I'll see if I can brainstorm anything good- your work to date is definitely appreciated.

A transmuter, mid-transformation, could be very visually interesting. Kinda split along the body's axis of symmetry- on the right you see the mage still casting the spell, as the left deforms and bulges obscenely into a giant spider or dragon.

A nemelex worshiper could be neat- a character posing with a drawn card, while one of nemelex's symbols of <summoning/destruction/wonders/ect> floating in the behind them air as an ornate glyph. I think glowly symbols things are something that would come off well in your style.

The orc or goblin tending the stone soup is pretty fun, maybe another image of the more mundane life in the dungeon? An off duty group of one of the sentient pack species (orcs, kobolds, yacktaurs or something) hanging out around a fire, rolling dice, eating diner, standing guard, falling asleep at their posts to be later stabbed... =D whatever.

I've always had all of these Crawl scenes in my head I'd want to draw if I could draw.

A sludge elf contemplating his hand as it morphs into a blade.
A NaSt emerging out of a rock wall behind an unsuspecting orc, dagger in hand.
A KeAE flying towards the screen, readying a lightning bolt to throw.
And maybe a KoBe going crazy with a short sword or something.

I don't want to come across as mean, or overly-critical -- Crawl is a totally open project and it's cool that people can submit stuff all the time -- but I don't think that fire mage is consistent with the quality of the other splash screens in the game. I like your demon-and-orb screen just fine, but I feel that it works well because as a silhouette it doesn't require more detail.

I guess it's far from me to say anything about what crawl "is" and "isn't," and I almost didn't post this because I don't want to be inflammatory. However, more than once people have had to tell me when my tile submissions weren't up to par, and I'm glad they did every time.

Roctavain i've seen a couple of your tiles and they are amazing!
I know my style is nothing like Denzi's as i am pretty sure that he is using MSpaint for all of his stuff while i am using Gimp.
and not all my stuff goes into the game either.

However the beauty of the title splashes is that you dont see all of them at once, so having them all "Match" is not as important as having all of the blood tiles match.
But if you really wanted to, I could send you the Gimp file with all of the layers and you could redraw the Mage.
You seem to have more skill in drawing *shudders* "Humans" than i do

Out of all the ideas that have been suggested i like the Nemelex one the best.
Mostly because it hits my weak spot of drawing glowing things.

That's a pretty sweet Sigmund. I use GIMP as well, and I love collaboration, let's give it a try!

If this collab goes well doing more would be fun, if that means i can avoid drawing the Humans

Anyway, I would like to have a transmuter that is impaling something with is bladehande, like in terminator II.

Alot of people want me to draw something with bladehands...

On one hand I do like drawing blood.
On the other hand, Bladehands don't glow...
On the other, other hand I do like drawing blood
On the other, other, other hand and i'd have to draw a person, and i am probably not the best choice for that.

Maybe the blood could be glowing?

You can make blade hands glow. It would be okay!

You want to avoid the difficulties of the human form, get bladehands in there, and have some glow to play with?

Go for something like a DrTm. Even better say, zoom in on the upper portion of his body, and have all the illumination coming from glowing eyes, and the fire, magic power or lightning curling around a partially opened mouth, with blades raised prominently, dripping blood, while the rest of his monstrous, inhuman body disappears into the shadows away from the limited light source.

Boom.
